maliks dad ishtal, carved the info on the god cards on maliks back. so when the king (yugi) put the milinuim puzzle together, he was suppose to tell yugi bout the 7 milinium items and the 3 god cards that whoever posseses all ten will control the powers of darkness. but Malik didnt tell him. what did u expect? but yugi found out anyways.
For some reason, Malik was trapped in his underground home and He wanted to see the world so he told his sister that he wanted to so his servant covered for him knowing that if his dad found out, well, lets just say it wont be pretty...
Anyways so isis n malik went out and some guy they thought was crazy named Shadi said that blood must be shed to return. anyways, they found when they went back that they woke up his dad because of a trap his dad laid out. then thay saw that their dad was stabbing Rishido (their servent) w/ a hot knife. then malik chaned into Yami malik and his dad turned to try to kill malik, but yami malik killed his dad first . anyways malik remembered nothing and saw his dad dead, then cried his eyes out.=(
then the freak shadi came to him and told malik that it was the will of the pharoh that his dad die. stupid pharoh.

This set Marik on the path to sabotaging the Pharaoh's return and taking his place. He founded the Ghouls to search for the God Cards which were needed to unlock the Pharaoh's memories and used the Rod to keep control over his "people". After his possession by Yami Marik, Marik is resolved to live with his guilt and has fulfilled his clan's duty to Pharaoh.

Born out of the despair, pain, and anger that filled Marik after his father forced him to undergo the family's ritual "carving", he was always "sealed" by the presence of Rishid who could calm Marik's emotions. Once Rishid fell to Ra's divine anger, Yami Marik was able to force Marik aside and come out. All he desires is destruction, of everyone, everything, and the world in general. Fully thriving on the power of Darkness, believing himself "chosen" by the Rod, he offers sacrifices (Mai, Bakura) to the Darkness in exchange for more power. However, in the end, he was defeated by Marik who succeeded in pushing back his dark side and banishing it to Yami.
