here's thing bout his past...

Malik's past is very confusing and disturbing. But here goes... When Malik was 10, all these people had a ceremony where his father carved strange markings into his back. This was to enlighten the pharaoh, Yugi, about the 3 God Cards. Poor Malik man, that must have been really painful. Malik and his father, sister, and servant all lived in an underground home in Egypt. One night, Isis was going to go into town, and Malik wanted to go with her. Isis wasnt too sure about this, but Rishid, Malik's servant, told them to go as their father was sleeping. So, they left, and while they were up there, Malik saw a picture of a motorcycle, and wanted it, though he could not have it. Isis soon decides its time to go back, and then, Shadi appears and tells them that blood must be shed in order for them to return. Then he dissapeared (wut a freaky dude). They go back home, and Isis notices that a trap had been set and their father had been beating Rishid with a hot knife. Malik tries to stop this, as Rishid is his freind, but he can't, so all his anger builds up, and that's when Yami Malik was born. Yami Malik pulls out the Millenum Rod, turns it into a dagger, and kills his father with it. He turns to Rishid and almost kills him too until he stops him. Malik soon comes back to his senses, but he dosent remember anything his Yami did. When he found his father lying dead on the ground, Shadi appeared and told him it was the will of the pharaoh. That's when Malik vowed to get revenge on Yami, which was the Pharaoh.

Malik dosen't really have any family. His only living relative is Isis Ishtar ( Ishizu in America ) which is his sister. Isis owned one of the 3 god cards but gave it to Kaiba and told him to start a Battle City tournament. The purpose of the tournament was for Yami to remember his past and to learn about the god cards. Malik, of course, would enter the competition to try and get all 3 god cards and get revenge on Yami. ( Very confusing...I know.. )

Malik's Millenium Item allows him to take control of any soul he desires and use them for his own evil purposes. The item is the Millenium Rod and its very deadly as well as haunting...The Millenium Rod can also turn into a dagger, which is what Yami Malik used to go on his killing spree...

Ryou is Malik’s only true friend in the anime. Malik and Isis live in an apartment in the anime. Malik suffers a lot because of what his Yami (dark side) does. Actually, he is a kind person at heart. That is why he is sometimes deranged and depressed....And yes he is one of the lucky owners of one of the God Cards...Ra..He and this crazy gang went to Egypt to steal them..But then Isis took Obelisk from Malik..Of course he was mad..And he used to own the other two but when he was dueling Yugi using a puppet he lost Osiris to Yugi..So currently he owns Ra!

Evil Yami Malik side
Yami Malik was a tomb guardian in his earlier life (in ancient Egypt). He mistreats Malik, like Yami Bakura does Ryou. Later in the anime when he meets Yami Bakura again they team up to kill Yugi to get his Puzzle.
